PADI Self-Reliant Diver Course
The course aims to give experienced divers a sense of freedom, but ensuring that this freedom is provided safely in a way that minimizes risk.
Divers are taught procedures and drills that will allow them to plan and carry out dives all on their own.
WHO is up for adventure?
Any Advanced Open Water Diver over the age of 18 can complete the PADI Self-Reliant Diver course as long as they have proof of at least 100 logged dives.
The course incorporates technical diving skills and sidemount diving techniques as well as self-rescue skills.
WHERE will it take me?
To your underwater paradise without the need for a dive buddy to accompany you and be nearby at all times.

Specialty dive courses. The Self-Reliant Diver course gives experienced divers a disciplined kind of freedom: the training, procedures and redundancy planning to conduct dives without a buddy — safely, deliberately, with risk engineered down rather than shrugged off. It's the thinking diver's course, and it changes how you dive even when you never dive alone.
Who qualifies? This is an experienced-diver specialty with real prerequisites: Advanced Open Water certification, a substantial logged-dive history (typically 100 dives), instructor assessment, and the maturity the subject demands. If that's you, read on; if not yet, it's a worthy target.
What will I learn? Self-sufficiency as a system: redundant gas (pony or twin setups), backup instruments and cutting devices, gas-management planning with proper reserves, self-rescue drills, and the pre-dive judgement call the course trains you to make: whether a given dive should be done alone at all. Three training dives put the procedures under load.
