The Jetty

The Jetty is routinely called one of the greatest beach dives in the world, and the phrase is precise: you enter beside Sipadan island's jetty on the north shore, and within metres the full theatre of the island is running — turtles in numbers that stop being countable, fish life at aquarium density, and the great wall of The Drop Off beginning almost immediately. No boat ride, no negative entry: just walk in and be at Sipadan.
The easiest world-class dive site
That accessibility is what makes the site unique in the island's rotation. It's superb for a first dive of the trip, for a gentle profile between wall dives, for free divers and snorkellers who get the spectacle from the surface, and for underwater photographers who want working time rather than drift management. Families with certified kids rate it the island's friendliest tank.

Don't mistake friendly for minor. The marine biology here is as rich as anywhere on the island — the jetty pilings and shallow reef concentrate life the way structure always does — and because divers linger here, it's often where the trip's best turtle portraits and closest shark passes actually happen.
