Paradise 1 と Paradise 2 は、ニシキテグリの交尾で有名な、夕暮れ時やナイトダイビングに最適な素晴らしいスポットです。
Paradise 1 and Paradise 2 are Mabul's sunset appointment. These shallow, calm sites — 5 to 10 metres, kind to every certification level — are famous for one of diving's great small spectacles: mandarinfish mating at dusk. As the light drops, the most flamboyantly painted fish in the ocean rise out of the rubble in pairs, cheek to cheek, for a few seconds at a time. Photographers wait motionless with red lights; everyone surfaces grinning. Maratua Paradise Resort is written up separately, rates and rooms included.

日中のこのサイトは、素直で簡単なマブールダイビングそのものです。海草や瓦礫のパッチにはヨウジウオやハゼが隠れ、イソギンチャクの街があり、この島ならではの小さな生き物たちが密集しています。水深が浅いため、70分間ののんびりとしたロングダイブが定番ですが、親指ほどの大きさの被写体を狙うなら、まさにうってつけの環境です。

実践的なアドバイスをひとつ。ローテーションでたまたまここになるのを期待するのではなく、夕暮れ時のダイブとして意図的に Paradise を予約し、ニシキテグリが目当てだとダイブセンターに伝えてください。日没前の最後の30分間にエントリーのタイミングを合わせることがすべてです。日中に House Reef や Crocodile Avenue と組み合わせれば、ある日の午後だけでマブールを満喫できますよ。
